This community is amazing. There’s never a shortage of people reaching out to offer whatever help they can. Always. My most recent announcement was that I’ll be speaking at August’s #WeLoveCLT event. Garrett texts me every day or so with an update on how many have RSVP’d, successfully causing my anxiety spike each time. It’s a good thing, though.

With a speaking engagement like that I need headshots. Admittedly, the one I was using was pretty awful:

After the introduction a local hero decided to speak up. Tonya Price has been involved in photography for over 20 years; the last 8 or so spent running her own business Poprockphotography. She is wild, bubbly, instantly warm, and amazing. Not only that she’s an INCREDIBLE photographer. She graciously offered to provide me with free headshots, so that I could look like a legit adult. She even included the amazing artwork in the header. Respect to whatever MegaMan fan included Rush.

Confession: I got our times mixed up and was on my couch unshowered and in gym shorts watching The Bridge when she text me that she was waiting on me. Being late is one of my biggest pet peeves, especially when someone is doing me such as favor, so I jumped up running around my apartment-yelling curse words at myself. I called her stumbling over my apologies while trying to wash my hair in my sink and throw some clothes on. She laughed, said it’s no big deal, and that she’d be waiting on me inside Evening Muse.

To say I’m happy with the outcome would be an understatement. The pictures came out amazing. Maybe next time I’ll be showered and properly prepared…

I need to do a better job of recognizing all the people that go out of their way to support me. It’s incredible how amazing of a community we have here. #IReallyLoveCLT
